the new classics - disco drinks

Sure you can stick with the "classics" like Negronis, Manhattans and the like, but why? Remember the 70's and 80's? Maybe you'll remember many of these other classics and if you don't remember the days of disco....well then you should dive into some of these retro favorites. The 70's and 80's weren't all about shots and even if a drink was originally made as a shot they can easily be converted over to a cocktail. have fun!


Pink Squirrel

Ingredients:
3/4 ounce creme de noyaux
3/4 ounce white creme de cacao
1 1/2 ounces heavy cream
Garnish option: freshly grated nutmeg
Steps:
Add the creme de noyaux, white creme de cacao and heavy cream into a shaker filled with ice and shake until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish



FuzzyNavel

Ingredients:
3 ounces peach schnapps
3 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed
Steps:
Add the peach schnapps and orange juice into a highball glass over ice, and stir briefly to combine.
Garnish with an orange slice.



Slippery Nipple

Ingredients:
1/4 ounce grenadine (optional)
1/2 ounce sambuca, chilled
1/2 ounce Irish cream liqueur
Steps:
If using, add the optional grenadine into a shot glass. Layer the sambuca on top by slowly pouring it over the back of a spoon (or add it into a shot glass, if not using grenadine). Layer the Irish cream on top, using the same spoon.

Grasshopper

Ingredients:
3/4 ounce white creme de menthe
3/4 ounce creme de cacao
1 barspoon absinthe
1 1/4 ounces heavy cream
Garnish: grated dark chocolate/mint sprig
Steps:
Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a double rocks glass over crushed ice. Garnish with grated chocolate and a mint sprig, and serve with a straw.


Alabama Slammer


Ingredients:


1 ounce Southern Comfort
1 ounce sloe gin


1 ounce amaretto liqueur
2 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed
Garnish: orange wedge
Steps:
Add Southern Comfort, sloe gin, amaretto and orange juice to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice. Or, if serving as a shot, divide among shot glasses. Garnish with an orange wedge.

Lava Flow


Ingredients:
1 ounce light rum
1 ounce coconut rum
2 ounces strawberries
2 ounces pineapple juice
2 ounces coconut cream
1 banana
1 cup crushed ice
Garnish: pineapple wedge
Steps:
Add the two rums and strawberries into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the blended mixture into a pitcher or mixing glass and rinse the blender. Add the pineapple juice, coconut cream and banana into the blender with crushed ice and blend until smooth. Pour both blends into a tall glass from opposite sides, and watch the strawberry mixture rise to the top like lava. Garnish with a pineapple wedge.

Brandy Alexander


Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces cognac
1 ounce dark creme de cacao
1 ounce cream
Garnish: grated nutmeg
Steps
Add cognac, dark creme de cacao and cream into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or a coupe glass.
Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

Gold Cadillac


Ingredients
1 ounce Galliano L’Autentico liqueur
1 ounce white creme de cacao
1 ounce heavy cream
Garnish: chocolate shavings
Steps
Add the Galliano, white creme de cacao, and heavy cream into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
Strain into a cocktail glass or coupe glass.
Garnish with freshly shaved chocolate.

Between the sheets


Ingredients
3/4 ounce. light rum
3/4 ounce. cognac
3/4 ounce. triple sec
1/4 ounce. lemon juice
1/12 ounce. simple syrup
Steps:
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a glass

White Russian


Ingredients
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce Kahlúa
1 splash heavy cream
Steps
Add the vodka and Kahlúa to a rocks glass filled with ice.
Top with the heavy cream and stir.
